Image
Examples of Disability in the Media  Silver Linings Playbook (2012) Silver linings Playbook is about Pat Solantano (Bradley Cooper) after spending four years in a mental institution sparks a relationship with a widow called Tiffany (Jennifer Lawerence) as they both try to put there lives back together. Silver Linings uses mise-en-scene (M.E.S) to demonstrate disability/mental illness with the performances by Bradley Cooper as he lacks social skills and is very blunt and cold with his dialogue and tone with other characters and his relationships with characters like his father (Robert De Niro) being shown as judging his illness conveying him as an outsider. His positioning with other characters also paints him as isolated and as a victim to his disorder as he distances himself from characters. The editing and cinematography to demonstrate gis constant mood change as it quick cuts down the scenes in a montage sequence as he changes...

Albert Banduras "Effects Theory"

Image
Albert Banduras "Effects Theory"  In the rise of TV and the wide distribution and availability of movies and television shows into the common household in the 60s many psychologists wanted to develop a theory of effects this kind of distribution and long expose to the medium would change/effect people. one of these theories was developed by Albert Bandura who suggested that social learning theory which suggests learned behaviour is developed from models (parents/role models). Albert Bandura specifically theorised that aggressive behaviour in children stemmed from viewing others. This has been demonstrated most notable in psychological studies like the famous "Bobo Doll" experiment (1961 to 1963) where children were presented with a Bobo doll in a lab. This experiment had consisted of 36 boys and 36 girls who were viewed with and without an adult present/in the room. When by themselves these children had no/few acts that would be considered aggressive towa...

This is due to the block like formation of the chain forming a almost street art esc image this bring a modern feel to the image due to current artists like Banksy focusing there work around this art style, street art also has many roots in the black community as a symbol of revolution as many place one of the most famous being Brooklyn which is filled with street art conveying political views and experiences in the black community which have been represented in shows like "she's gotta have it" both the 2017 show and the original 1986 release. This is relevant the film due to it revolving around slavery and the main character breaking free from his chains literally and figuratively as an African American in the 1958 In southern America. Male Representation In Die Hard

Image
Male Representation In Die Hard (1988) John McClane (Bruce Willis) is shown as being dangerous due to the fact he is armed with a fire arm and is capable of doing harm on others, this prop is a common portrayal of men to be dangerous in such media texts as James Bond and other action hero's. His costume also shows him as the protecter/hero of the scene as his vest colour is white which is used in media texts to represent hope framing John as the hero of the scene which is the usually the role of the hero. However John McClane goes against stereotypes of male portrayals because the use of Mise En Scene as John's body language is crouched in a combat ready stance along with his facial features looks apprehensive as he waits for someone to enter. This goes against the typical archetype of men as he is not shown as being in control of the situation but instead he is being controlled by the situation as he hides and waits for the enemy instead of taking charge and fighting...
