Magazine Analyses (MovieMaker)

Image
Magazine Analyses The main image consists of a close up on actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt due to the focus of the main cover line being the recent performances in 50/50 and The Dark Knight Rises as the comment on him as a "hot" actor commenting on both his attractiveness and his recent carrier success in two critically loved performances film within the same year. Due to him being a young more recent addition to the hollywood cast and the fact the magazine describes its self as a guide to film education I assume that this would be targeted to more younger audience but who have money to spare on the magazine/established independence from home and financial freedom so if I was to give a rough range I would say ages 20 to 30. This audience is clearly also targeted towards movie lovers because of both the mast head being "movie maker" and the cover lines having movie terminology such as "final cut" as a guide to film "education" so ...

Exam Style Questions On I, Daniel Blake

Exam Style Questions Explain two ways that camerawork has been used to create meaning for the audience in 'I, Daniel Blake' (4 Marks) The camerawork is used to create meaning by using a range of personal shots, for example, the close-ups on Daniel as he experiences this tragic/unfair treatment, which is amplified with the use of mise en scene as his facial expressions show his sadness, misery, and frustration as he yells in anger. This visual code gives similar intertextuality to the 'Selma' (2014) trailer which used similar close-ups and montage techniques to show Martin Luther King standing up to the government. Creating meaning of revolution and grounding the trailer in reality as both films are based on true real life inspirations taht people should know about from Martin Luther King and the black communities fight for equality in America a real man who changed the world and Daniel Blake a symbol/metaphor for the lower class in the UK, a person created to r...

Seven Opening Analyse

How are Technical, Audio, Visual Codes used in this film to create an effective thriller opening? The scene creates an effective thriller opening by creating an enigma code with the audience by using extreme close up on key information in the film like the cutting off of fingerprints and uses low key lighting to create an aura of mystery as darkness is usually used to hide things in the shadows in media because the film 'Seven' wants people to ask these questions so they watch the film to find the answers and with these extreme close-ups making the audience uncomfortable, the audience responds with engagement for the film and are intrigued by how the film will answer this enigma code created by out of context imagery and low key light. The sound in this scene is used to create tension/unease in the opening outlining the tone of the film with the music being mechanical and creepy due to its heavy rock essence/theme making the audience relate the opening with deat...

"Introduction to Representation"

Image
"Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind" (2004) Poster This poster shows the man (Jim Carrey) as having no identity this is due to the representation of his eyes being cut out of the picture and replaced with words. This shows he has no identity because eyes are commonly referred to as being the "doorway to our hearts" so without his eyes is there a way to find out who he truly is in his heart. The plot of this film is that Joel (Jim Carrey) is having his memories of his relationship with Clementine (Kate Winslet) removed so maybe the designer of this poster has removed the eyes from the picture because it  shows how without are memories we as people aren't ourselves because memories make us who we are from the primary school playground to our college breakups and that representation of lack of identity shows how memories make us who we are and with that leads us to the direct conflict of the film. Tagline The text in the man's eyes sa...
